Our Intact Family Services program helps keep children safe across Chicagoland while preserving family unity. Families referred by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services work with a caseworker to create a short-term plan focused on safety and stability. Based on each family’s needs, support may include domestic violence services, anger management, therapy, or substance abuse treatment. Caseworkers ensure families are connected to and engaged in the services that support lasting change.
A staff caseworker and a DCFS investigator meets with the family to discuss available support, identify needs, and create a service plan with shared goals. Caseworkers visit weekly at first to help stabilize the situation and connect families to services. Once services are in place, visits typically occur every two weeks to monitor progress and provide ongoing support. Most families work with the program for 6–9 months, depending on their needs, progress, and safety.
